To make your own home made bath salts ...

In a large glass or metal bowl, stir together...

• 2 cups Epsom Salt or Sea Salt - or 1 cup of each (Do not use table salts as that will dry out your skin!)
• 1-2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda (optional but makes skin soft)
• 8-10 drops of essential oil (Lavender is best for a relaxing bath, Vanilla, Mandarin orange, Sandalwood or Eucalyptus are also great!)

You can also add a small amount of food colouring (the kind used for cake decorating) if desired, but it's not essential.

Now mix the salts and bicarbonate soda really well, add half the drops of essential oil add the remainder drop by drop, until you are happy with your scent.

The 8-10 drops is a rough guide and what we like to put in. But you may like it stronger or less strong depending on which oil you use.

This is your own homemade bath salt! Now you will just need to bag it or put it into a glass jar.

If you use old jam or glass jar make sure they have been thoroughly cleaned and dried. Finally add French ribbon and a label or alternatively, pour into plastic bag and seal. Put bag inside our white paper bag with pla window (if you have used food colouring it will look great through the window. Attach a label to the bag with instruction.

As it’s nearly valentine, instructions could read... ‘Spa Treatment for my loved one…add 2-3 tablespoons of bath salts to warm water for a relaxing bath. Enjoy!’

Or simply

‘Gorgeous homemade bath salts, add 2-3 tablespoons for a lovely relaxing bath!’
