    Autumn Celebrations - Guy Fawkes

We love that we can look forward to even more celebrations in the Autumn. So get ready for a Guy Fawkes celebration on the 5th of November with more festivities. Its time to invite friends to an out-door gathering by sending autumn leaves invitations. Get cooking and serve up the hearty French Onion Soup in paper container with lids and feast on Bonfire treacle and Toffee Apples. Light the way with jam jar lanterns and paper lanterns. Not forgetting to light those sparklers and fireworks to make sure the evening is celebrated in glowing style. We think the fireworks are best left at home because its really not that great for the environment and our poor dogs and animals in general really hate them.

Why are we celebrating Guy Fawkes?

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework Night! This is an annual commemoration observed on 5th of November, primarily in Great Britain. Its history begins with the events of the 5th of November 1605, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot was arrested. He was caught while guarding explosives that the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people then lit bonfires around London. Months later the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Acten forced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot’s failure.

Create Autumnal Joy - Baking & Entertaining this season. It might be a little grey at times outdoors, but do not let the weather stop you enjoying the great outdoors. Put on a pair of wellies and a coat that will withstand a little bit of wind and rain and head outdoors to enjoy the changing colours of leaves and the great smell of soil and autumn. With the autumnal weather setting in, we will be spending more time in-doors, so why not get baking using the plentiful crop of apples and pears. Can we tempt you to bake a scrumptious Dorset Apple Cake or perhaps make a yummy crumble for pudding? Or go to the Pipii Archive where we have been compiling the best of our family recipes for the last 10 years, plenty to choose from....

With the nights drawing in, it is always nice to invite friends and family round for a cosy dinner or perhaps a little celebration. Light candles and set the table using beautiful palm leaf plates, bowls and coconut bowls. Use autumn branches to create a autumnal table setting. Going for walks in the beautiful autumn colours is all part of autumnal Joy. Use fallen leaves as place cards or perhaps scatter a few acorns as table confetti. Palm leaf plates are biodegradable, which will make hosting a party even easier. Once the guest have enjoyed a scrumptious meal, just gather the plates and add them to your compost pile and soon they will be broken down into organic matter.

    Sustainable Tableware

We have been busy styling some beautiful table settings. We enjoyed using both palm leaf tableware but also the versatile white sugar cane tableware, both are extremely durable and biodegradable. I am sure that you will agree with us, that the sustainable palm leaf, brown kraft plates and sugar cane tableware looks gorgeous on a table set with hessian runner or our new luxe eucalyptus paper tablecloth.

Autumnal Joy - Baking & Entertaining - Palm Leaf Table Setting

A perfect way to create a beautiful background for the tableware to be centre of attention. Arrange wooden cutlery in cutlery pouches or set the table with reusable bamboo or mahogany cutlery. Combine with tea light glasses and fresh eucalyptus branches or ferns.

    Seasonal Greenery

This beautiful table setting, captures autumnal pleasure, branches with colourful berries and greenery and use Tea lights to inter weave with. This setting is beautifully complimented by the biodegradable brown kraft paper plates, brown kraft cups, stripy brown kraft paper straws and disposable wooden cutlery. We used a pretty hessian table runner to set the everything on but kraft paper or place mats will look fab too and this setting will certainly wow your guests.
