You will need:

  • Wooden spoons or stirring sticks.
  • Good quality dark chocolate or chocolate chips…use chocolate with high % of cocoa butter as this ensures quick melt in your hot drink.
  • Sprinkles – coloured sugar, toffee, popping candy, cinnamon, mini marshmallows.

How to:

  1. Melt your chocolate either in a glass bowl over hot water (my preferred way, as you can watch it and take off the heat before it overheats and becomes lumpy). Ideally remove from the heat just before all the chocolate is melted and stir well till all lumps are melted.
  2. Alternatively, melt in the microwave.
  3. Now either dip your wooden spoons in the chocolate or lay the spoons out and pour a good ‘dollop’ onto each spoon.
  4. Once the chocolate begins to set, you can add sprinkles, mini marsh mallows, cinnamon or anything you like really to ‘spice up’ your spoons.
  5. Wrap, give and watch the joy of receiving these!

Alternatively, if you want to make it extra chocolaty, you could use mini cupcake cases or an ice-cube tray. Fill these with melted chocolate and once beginning to set, insert a wooden spoon or stirring stick.

If you have used an ice cube tray, they will need to be turned out but can be left in the mini cases to make a pretty finish to your gift.
