Homemade Waffles

The divine smell of newly baked waffles, yum!

You might have, like me, a waffle iron tucked away at the bag of the cupboard, get it dusted off and start baking sweet tasting waffles.

Homemade Waffles


  • 250g plain organic flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • The seeds from ½ a vanilla pod or 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 250ml full-fat organic milk
  • 4 organic eggs
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 25 grams of melted butter (using half for the waffle iron)


  1. In a bowl mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and the seeds from the vanilla pod together. Whisk in the milk until you have a smooth mixture, whisk in one egg at the time.
  2. Rest the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes, whisk in the butter before baking.
  3. Bake the waffles in a hot waffle iron, serve immediately with a dusting of icing sugar and strawberry jam.
