Paper Snowflake

These are wonderful snowflakes and loved by everyone who has seen them – can be made in all sizes. Just enlarge the template to whichever sizes you like. Our school made them for last Christmas in giant sizes for halls and windows. It looked just fantastic…

Very quick and easy and do not worry about too straight lines – a little ‘wobblyness’ always adds character.

Make them small for trees, scatter on tables or for each place setting. Make them large for window, ceilings and more.
But primarily, make them for a great afternoon of Christmas crafts…Enjoy!

Paper Snowflake

Instructions:

Please note: It may sounds a little complicated when you first read the instructions but persevere and you will see…it is not! And the end result is staggeringly intricate and delicate but really quite quick and easy.

  • Download the snowflake template. You will need 6 squares for each star so whatever size you decide on , make sure you have 6 equal sized squares.
  • The easiest way to cut the inside lines is cutting them before you cut out the squares. This way they are less like to rip and ‘slip and slide’ while cutting them.
  • For each snowflake, bend the tips of the inner-most flaps toward each other in the same directions and curl with your fingers to give them shape.
  • Next work your way out from the centre, bend the next pair of flaps around in the opposite direction to the previous flaps until they meet. Overlap ends and secure with double-stick tape.
  • Do the same for each pair of flaps, alternating directions each time and taping ends together. Continue on to the remaining 5 squares, making the snowflake parts the same way you did the first one.
  • Tape all 6 points together to form a snowflake. Beautiful…isn’t it?
