Tissue Paper Tassel Garland

This is what tissue paper was created for… it is so easy and so inexpensive and makes a great paper garland decoration.

You will need:

  • Tissue paper: ½ sheet per tassle will give you lovely full tassels.
  • Glue gun (can be done without but definitely makes it easier and quicker)
  • Scissors
  • Twine or thin ribbon

Tissue Paper Tassel Garland

  • Fold a piece of tissue paper (20″ x 20″ or 20″ x 24″) in half and in half the other way.
  • Cut strips from the open end towards the fold to create a fringe, leaving about 2 inch uncut at the folded line.
  • Once all fringe strips are cut, unfold the tissue and cut in half so you have 2 sheets with fringe (to make 2 tassels).
  • Start rolling your paper from the uncut centre section. Try to keep the tassel strips from getting tangled up.
  • Roll it from one side to the other down the centre.
  • Fold in half and then twist to create a loop for hanging. If your paper won’t stay in this position, this is where the glue gun comes handy due to its instant fix-ability!
  • Thread the tassel onto some string.
  • Just keep on adding more tassels to your string to complete your garland.

Tip: Adding tassels to a balloon string can create a super cute look and pretty up any wedding or party.
